As we head into the Term break and enjoy a few weeks off, it's a great opportunity to
reflect on what has been a positive and encouraging first half of the season under very
trying circumstances. With many great results it shows the resilience of all involved.
Thank you to everyone for your continued support.
Our Coles MiniRoos players have been training and playing at Hepburn Park this year; which is rarely ever closed. There are some amazing talent coming through the Coles MiniRoos!
This year we have seven Junior Competition teams and very strong in the 12s and 15s
age groups with three teams in each.
Girls Age 12 have started the season with great enthusiasm and results currently
sitting on top of the ladder. There is some outstanding talent coming through this group,
and the girls continue to improve every week. They have six games remaining and are
in a strong position to finish the season well.
Age 12 Division 1 are also currently leading the competition. This team has been developing together over several years, and that hard work is now paying off. With three games remaining, they are well placed to continue their impressive season.
Age 12 Division 2 have found this season challenging while results haven't always gone
their way, most losses have been by small margins and their goal difference reflects
how competitive they have been. A disrupted schedule and rescheduled matches has
not helped.
Girls Age 14 had a difficult start to the season, but have shown terrific improvement as
the weeks have gone on. Their confidence and teamwork continue to grow, and with
seven games still to play they're looking forward to finishing the season strongly.
Girls Age 15 are currently sitting second on the ladder with two games in hand. They
remain unbeaten this season and have six games remaining. They are playing some
great football and have placed themselves in a great position for the run home.
Age 15 Division 1 are currently sitting top of the ladder after claiming last year's pointscore and Grand Final titles. They have four games remaining and continue to look to finish the year strong with great players coming though.
Age 15 Division 2 have faced some tough opposition this season. Despite the challenges,
they continue to turn up each week with a fantastic attitude, work hard for one another
and never give up. Their resilience has been a real highlight.
Looking Ahead
One of the biggest positives this season has been the number of players stepping up to
challenge themselves. Many of our Coles MiniRoos players have been playing up into the Age 12 competitions, gaining valuable experience and accelerating their development.
Several Girls Age 12 players have also been representing themselves in other competitions,
while many of our Age 15 boys and girls are playing up in the senior men and women’s leagues. These opportunities continue to develop their skills and confidence and will be invaluable as the club work towards building a strong, competitive and successful future.
Also nice to note with the great results and positive player performances and behaviour,
more than half of Thistles juniors from Age 10 to 15s have participated in our in-house
development program TAP over the last four years.
We would like to thank all of our coaches, managers, volunteers and families for the
enormous amount of time and support they give each week. Your commitment makes
community football possible.
We hope everyone enjoys a well-earned break and returns refreshed and ready for an
exciting second half of the season. Good luck to all of our teams for the remainder of
the year—there is plenty to look forward to.
