Code of Behaviour

PLAYERS CODE OF BEHAVIOUR

  • Uphold the playing values of Lismore Thistles Soccer Club Inc.
  • Players are to play by the rules of the game and within the spirit of fair play and sportsmanship.
  • Playing fair requires courage and character and is more satisfying, as playing fair earns you respect, while cheats are detested.
  • Never verbally abuse or argue with a Match Official, player or the opposition coach or manager as this is not acceptable.
  • Support your fellow players and cooperate with your coach and manager.
  • Do not bully another player and treat other players as you like to be treated.
  • Be a “good sport” applaud all good plays whether they are made by your team or the other team.
  • Accept defeat with dignity, and seek genuine reasons as to why you lost, do not seek excuses for defeat. Congratulate the winners with good grace. Good losers gain more respect than bad losers.
  • Participate for your own enjoyment and benefit.

COACHES AND MANAGERS CODE OF BEHAVIOUR

  • Uphold the values and teachings of Lismore Thistles Soccer Club Inc.
  • Teach players the worth of “fair play and sportsmanship” and to compete within the rules of the game.
  • Young players participate for pleasure and winning is only a part of the fun.
  • Ensure that average players are to have the same opportunities and game time as the more talented players and that the time players spend with us is a positive experience.
  • Do not bring up talented players from lower age divisions at the detriment to our own players.
  • Respect the decisions of the Match Officials.
  • Respect the decisions of the Ground Officials.
  • Never ridicule or unduly scold a player for making a mistake.
  • Gain the appropriate coaching certificate to aid in the training and development of your players.
  • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every player regardless of their gender, ability, colour, language, national or ethnic origin.
  • Not to use violence in any form, whether it is against spectators, Team Officials, (including coaches and managers), Match Officials or Players.

SPECTATOR CODE OF BEHAVIOUR

  • Respect the decisions of the Match Officials and teach children the same.
  • Respect the decisions of the Ground Officials and teach children the same.
  • Encourage players to play within the rules of the game.
  • Never ridicule or unduly scold a player for making a mistake.
  • Congratulate all teams on their performance and applaud individuals for their effort.
  • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person regardless of their gender, ability, race, colour, language, national or ethnic origin.
  • Condemn the use violence in any form, whether it is against other spectators, Team Officials, (including coaches and managers), Match Officials and Players.
  • Do not engage in discrimination, harassment or abuse in any form, including the use of obscene or offensive language or gestures against player, coaches or officials.
